Focus on Philosophical values.

Third Thursday of November

The resolution proclaiming World Philosophy Day urges member states to Promote philosophy within their countries. to Strengthen the teaching of philosophy, to Encourage philosophical activities and initiatives, to Utilize UNESCO's guidelines, such as the intersectoral strategy on philosophy. It is important to support philosophy's universal mission in the service of cultural diversity and peace by encouraging free and reasoned thinking on major contemporary issues. The UNESCO organizes events on World Philosophy Day that often feature discussions, debates, and conferences. These events are open to philosophers, scientists, educators, students, and the general public. The focus shifts annually to address specific contemporary issues, such as the ethical implications of new technologies (like AI) in recent years.

Philosophy fosters the ability to think freely and rationally. It encourages the understanding and respect for different cultures and points of view. The Teaching of Philosophy Promotes collective reflection on ethical dilemmas and the search for a more just and human-centered future.
